emetic, turning the stomach: bolbus, App. Herb. 55.—Hence, subst.: † ĕmĕtĭca, ae, f., = ἐμετική, an incitement to vomit, an emetic (employed by the Roman gourmands as the means of renewed gluttony), Cael. ap. Cic. Fam. 8, 1, 4 (cf. bibit et vomit, Juv. 6, 432; dub.; Bait. embaeneticam; al. pineticam, or peneticam).
