Usually regarded as the same tribe, called, at an earlier period, Gŏthō-nes or Gŏtōnes, Tac. A. 2, 62; and, Gŭtōnes, Plin. 4, 14, 28, § 99; 37, 2, 11, § 35; but these were more probably the Getae, i. e. the Prussians and Lithuanians; cf. Holzmann ad Tac. G. p. 260 sq.—
