a mountain between Naples and Puteoli, which projects into the sea, now Hill of Posilipo, Plin. 3, 6, 12, § 82; 9, 53, 78, § 167. There Vedius Pollio had a villa, which he left to Augustus, and which was afterwards possessed by the emperor Trajan, Inscr. Fabr. p. 199, n. 486.
